Friendship Sunday

In simple, practical terms a friend is someone who cares about you and expresses that care in word and deed. Jesus is the ultimate example of this. The Bible states that there is no greater expression of caring than to lay down one’s life for a friend. Jesus went several giant steps farther: he laid down his life for his friends, enemies and all those in between. Now there is a friend worth knowing. Because we care about you and consider you a friend (even if we’ve never met), we invite you to our Friendship Sunday; a gathering of friendly people anxious to introduce you to your Best Friend. His name is Jesus Christ.
In case you are uncertain about what will be taking place on this day, let me fill you in. We will be worshipping Jesus, our God and our Savior. We will sing hymns and songs that praise him and tell about what he has done. We will join together in prayer, asking God to help us in our daily lives. We will hear a sermon preached, based entirely on the Bible, sharing the good news of what Jesus has done and continually does for us. We will receive the Lord’s blessing and forgiveness. In other words, church will happen. We certainly invite you to participate in this worship, but you are not required to. If you would just like to come in and listen, that’s great as well! We just want you to know what a friend that you have in Jesus!
